QuickBooks Online in Canada costs $30 to $220 a month CAD, depending on the plan and how many people need a login, and almost nobody pays that in year one: QuickBooks runs its own 90% off for 6 months, and partner links like ours open 80% off for 8 months. Which one costs you less depends on one thing most pricing pages skip: whether you will run QuickBooks Payroll.

New QuickBooks customers, no code; QuickBooks Payroll is not part of our offer

List prices in CAD before tax from quickbooks.intuit.com/ca (Oct 31, 2026). Our link: 80% off the plan for 8 months. QuickBooks' public offer: 90% off the plan and the payroll base fee for 6 months. Per-employee payroll fees are never discounted.

Our link or QuickBooks' own offer: which costs less?

QuickBooks gives new customers two discounts, and you can only have one:

  • QuickBooks' public offer: 90% off for 6 months on Buy now, on its own pricing page. It also takes 90% off the QuickBooks Payroll base fee for 6 months.
  • The partner offer through our link: 80% off for 8 months on EasyStart, Essentials, Plus or Advanced. QuickBooks Payroll is sold separately at the regular price.

Without payroll, our link costs less over a year on every plan. It costs more only if you cancel within six months: over the first 6 months the public offer is $18 on EasyStart against $36 through our link.

With payroll, the answer often flips. The public offer saves $162 on the Payroll Core base fee in year one ($198 instead of $360), more than our link saves on EasyStart, Essentials or Plus. If you will run payroll in QuickBooks from the first month, QuickBooks' own offer is usually cheaper: with Payroll Core only Advanced stays about $58 ahead through our link, and on Premium or Elite the public offer wins on every plan. If you run payroll in a separate app such as Wagepoint, or have no employees yet, our link costs less. Get 80% off QuickBooks for 8 months.

Partner offer terms, from the page our link opens: new QuickBooks customers only, and previous customers with an expired QuickBooks Online trial do not qualify; changing plans moves you to that plan's list price; billing is monthly until you cancel, effective at the end of the billing period with no prorated refund; it cannot be combined with other QuickBooks offers. Details are on our QuickBooks deal page.

Ten employees on Core cost $80 a month at list, $960 a year. Compare it with dedicated Canadian payroll in our payroll price index.

Does QuickBooks charge per user?

No, it charges per plan, and each plan has a user limit: 1 on EasyStart, 3 on Essentials, 5 on Plus and 25 on Advanced. Your accountant gets access on every plan without using a seat. QuickBooks' Canadian pricing pages list no add-on seats, so a fourth person means Plus at $110 a month. That ladder is where QuickBooks gets expensive for service teams, and why a team of four or more often compares it with Xero's unlimited users in Xero vs QuickBooks for Canada.

Which QuickBooks plan should you choose?

  • EasyStart if one person runs the books and the job is invoicing, getting paid and reconciling the bank.
  • Essentials when you pay bills through QuickBooks, invoice in US dollars or track time, with up to three people.
  • Plus for inventory, job or project profitability, budgets and up to five people. It is the plan most product businesses need.
  • Advanced for larger teams that need custom permissions, custom reports and automation.

Pick the plan you expect to keep: on the partner offer, changing plans moves you to the regular price.

GST/HST and writing QuickBooks off

QuickBooks' prices exclude tax, and GST/HST is added where it applies. If your business is registered, that tax is normally recoverable as an input tax credit. The subscription itself is deductible; if you ever prepay, deduct only the months in each fiscal year. Our GST/HST rate guide lists each province's rate.

Is QuickBooks Online worth the price?

For a small Canadian business that wants payroll, inventory or multi-currency in one login, and an accountant who works in QuickBooks, yes. Through our link, Essentials is $392 for the first year, with bills, US-dollar invoicing and three users. Where it costs more is the user ladder from year two. A solo business that mostly sends invoices may do better with Wave or FreshBooks.

How much does QuickBooks Online cost per year in Canada?

No code is needed. QuickBooks' own pricing page runs 90% off QuickBooks and the payroll base fee for 6 months on Buy now. Partner links like ours open a page with 80% off for 8 months on EasyStart, Essentials, Plus or Advanced, for new QuickBooks customers. Over a year without payroll, the partner offer costs less.

Does QuickBooks have a free trial in Canada?

Can I add users to a QuickBooks plan?

Each plan has its own user limit: 1 on EasyStart, 3 on Essentials, 5 on Plus and 25 on Advanced, plus access for your accountant on every plan. QuickBooks' Canadian pricing pages list no add-on seats, so needing more people means moving up a plan.

Is QuickBooks Online tax deductible in Canada?

Yes, the subscription is a deductible business expense. GST/HST charged on it is normally recoverable as an input tax credit if your business is registered. If you prepay, deduct only the months that fall in each fiscal year.
